Jan Blachowicz is going to be linked with Jon Jones for as long as he is champion. It's inevitable really.

Jon Jones ruled the division for almost a decade, starting with winning the title back in 2011 over Shogun Rua. Now he's no longer champion after vacating the title and is expecting to compete at heavyweight.

Jan Blachowicz is doing his best to forget about Jones. That's not so simple considering his importance to the division.

He recently sat down with MMAFighting to discuss the topic.

“I think Jon Jones, this conversation is over,” Blachowicz told MMA Fighting. “It’s not making sense to talk about him anymore. I don’t know. Maybe he don’t fight anymore, anywhere at heavyweight or light heavyweight, I don’t think so.

“I don’t know what he’ll do. I forgot about him. You remind me about Jon Jones right now,” Blachowicz told the interviewer.

It's a complicated situation with Jones. It's unclear whether he'll fight again or even if he has a good relationship with the UFC.

Jan Blachowicz can't focus on that too much as he has a title defense coming up soon at UFC 267. The Polish champion takes on Brazilian Glover Teixeira in an exciting matchup that many are looking forward to.

The Jones fight was one that Jan Blachowicz was hoping for before, but now he understands he needs to move on in order to focus on defending his title.

“A half year ago, it would be a different way — ‘I have to beat him, I’ll find him somewhere and beat him,’” Blachowicz said. “Like I said before but right now I don’t care about him. If he comes back, OK. If not, who cares.”
