Veteran guard Jason Terry has confirmed that he will not play for the Houston Rockets this coming season, as he was informed by the team that they won't be re-signing him.

During an appearance on Sirius XM's NBA Today, he told Justin Termine about the Rockets' decision:

The 38-year old played the last two seasons in Houston, appearing in a total of 149 regular season and 22 playoff games. Last year, he averaged seven points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in only 24.8 minutes per game.

Beyond the numbers, it's the veteran leadership that the Jet brings in the locker room that has made him valuable for the teams he has played for. He has denied reports that he'll be retiring (via Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News) despite the lack of interest he has received on his free agency. Terry knows that he still has a lot left in the tank, and that his experience can be valuable to a number of squads:

“Not retiring at all, Just looking for another opportunity to get back on a contender. But if that opportunity doesn't present itself, still being able to go in and have an impact in the locker room on the younger players and provide quality minutes off the bench. My body feels great. My mind is still sharp.”

If there's a team that was previously interested in Terry, now is the best time to snag him off. He is an unrestricted free agent who most definitely will sign for the veteran's minimum.
