Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr thinks free agent center Javale McGee has a real shot to make the team.

In an interview with Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News, Kerr was open about his chances to crack a spot with the Dubs.

“I think JaVale has a real chance here,” said Kerr. “We’ll see how he plays in camp. I think he’s got a chance and we’ll give him every opportunity to play.”

McGee has been more known the past year for his appearances in TNT's Shaqtin-A-Fool than his on-court heroics.

Before the slight decline in his career, the 7-footer had three straight seasons (2010-13) with two or more blocks per game in only an average of 22 minutes of playing time.

“He comes highly recommended by Andre (Iguodala), who played with him in Denver,” added Kerr. “I think this is a really good opportunity for him, because he’s playing with a talented group of players and a really good environment… in which there’s nobody like him on the roster.”

Javale McGee spent his last two seasons between Philadelphia and Dallas. His best season came as a member of the Washington Wizards in 2010-11 where he averaged 10.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks.
