When NBA teams’ fans who saw their franchise player leave in free agency, it has been somewhat of a rite to go to their social media accounts and rant about the unfortunate development for them. Burning jerseys has also been a norm for those who seem to have take the development the hardest.

That was exactly the case on Tuesday, when Utah Jazz supporters found out that Gordon Hayward has agreed to join the Boston Celtics, and ditch their team instead. Angry fans recorded his jersey being placed in a fire pit, and called him names.

The 27-year-old’s decision to leave Salt Lake City will signify the start of the Rudy Gobert era, as he is expected to be their new franchise player. Even with Ricky Rubio and Rodney Hood in their fold, the Jazz have an obvious hole at the small forward position, which is something they're hoping to address in free agency.

The C’s and Jazz will meet at least twice next season and it will be very interesting to see how Gobert and company will compete against their former teammate. It’s also equally worth watching what kind of reception the fans will give Hayward when he plays for the first time inside Vivint Smart Home Arena wearing a different jersey.
