Utah Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo a season-ending surgery on his right wrist, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. His full recovery is expected for the start of the 2020-21 season.

Bogdanovic averaged 20 points per game for the Jazz, who were the fourth-seed in the Western Conference before the NBA season came to a halt on March 11.

Bogdanovic first injured his wrist sometime in 2019 and had managed to play through the pain throughout the season. Discomfort with his wrist emerged again during the hiatus, making the decision to go under the knife one that makes sense for the franchise, which hopes to protect him for the long-term.

The Croatian sniper signed a four-year, $73 million deal with the Jazz last summer after enjoying a career season with the Indiana Pacers in 2018-19.

Bogdanovic added a new layer of offense for the Jazz, giving them unparalleled sharpshooting from the forward position and a capable 20-point scorer to go with their stalwarts Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

He was part of a very exclusive group as one of two NBA players to average 20 points, shoot 40% from deep and 90% from the foul line, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Milwaukee Bucks small forward Khris Middleton, who was flirting with a 50-40-90 season before the NBA came to a sudden halt, is the only other member of that group.

If the NBA season resumes at any point, it will likely bring in Joe Ingles back into the starting rotation to add another layer of shooting now that Royce O'Neale moved into the lineup in favor of the former.
