Donovan Mitchell is now the fastest Utah Jazz player to score 3,000 points for his career.

Peep Mitchell's record-setting shot in the clip below posted by the Jazz on Twitter. The previous record was held by Darrell Griffith who reached the 3,000-point mark in his first 150 games. The 22-year-old did the feat in just 139 games. That's crazy considering that the franchise had two other Hall of Famers in their ranks – Karl Malone and John Stockton – that failed to even scratch that.

For the season, The Spider is averaging 23.3 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 32.9 percent from downtown. In just his second year in the league, he's already proven that he's an offensive gunner with elite athleticism to boot.

Though some critics have pointed out his bad shot selection, we can never discount Mitchell's offensive talent. Besides, he's only in his second year in the league. A look at his statistics would reveal that he's inching closer to reaching that level of consistency that all great players have.

He's also one of the key reasons why the Jazz will likely make the playoffs this year. As of writing, they are sixth place in the Western Conference with a 36-27 record. No one expected them to play at a high level after the departure of Gordon Hayward and the key additions to the ever-competitive West. But here they are now, with a blossoming franchise player trying to make a serious playoff push.
