On Sunday night, the San Antonio Spurs snapped the Utah Jazz's brief two-game winning streak with a 110-97 victory.

Following the contest, Jazz stud Donovan Mitchell, who scored a game-high 27 points on the evening, refused to take credit for his outstanding performance. The 22-year-old rightfully deflected the praise, and instead, focused on his sub-par defensive effort against the Spurs.

Aside from his 27 points, Mitchell also added three three-pointers, five rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block to round out a wonderful all-around performance. The 6-foot-3 guard went 11-of-23 from the field and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Nonetheless, it was in a losing effort, as the Jazz were unable to respond to the Spurs' first half blitz. San Antonio was up by 18 points at the half, and they never looked back, despite a big third quarter from the Jazz.

For his part, Mitchell has been great for the Jazz thus far, averaging 20.9 points (on 42.5 percent shooting), 2.0 three-pointers, 2.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks in 32.4 minutes per contest.

Despite a strong start for the sophomore, the Jazz have still been struggling. The team is now 13-14 and are all the way at 13th in the Western Conference. Nonetheless, they are just 1.5 games outside the playoff picture and still have three quarters of the season remaining to try and bring back their form from last year.

The Jazz have three games this week, starting with an away game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, followed by a home contest against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. They end the week with a trip to Florida to face the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
