The Utah Jazz are one of several NBA teams that have not won a championship, but second-year shooting guard Donovan Mitchell is ready to change that narrative. In fact, he says that's the team's goal going forward.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Mitchell made it clear that bringing a title to Salt Lake is the objective going forward.

“The goal is a championship,” Mitchell told Yahoo Sports without hesitation. “… I just find it funny. People ask me that all the time. What’s next? I say to them, ‘How come you don’t ask Golden State what’s next?’ You know what I mean? That’s how I look at it. We’re all in this for a championship. We’re not here for nothing else. I just laugh when people ask me that because I’m like, ‘Would you ask that same question to Boston?’ What’s next for us is a championship, and you can ask everybody in the organization and in the city and they’ll tell you what’s next.”

Clearly, Mitchell has a competitive drive, and Jazz fans love him for it.

The Denver Nuggets selected Mitchell with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 draft. The former Louisville Cardinal was later traded to the Jazz for the 24th pick (Tyler Lydon) and Trey Lyles. Mitchell officially signed a four-year rookie scale contract with Utah on July 5, 2017.

Mitchell played 36 minutes in Utah's season-opening win over the Sacramento Kings, racking up 24 points on 8-of-21 shooting from the field (3-of-10 from beyond the arc), three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Though he struggled in the early phases of the game, he managed to score 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Whether or not the Jazz will be in the Finals this season remains to be seen, but there is no doubt Mitchell is ready to do everything he can to lead his team to that point.
