Donovan Mitchell is becoming more than just a great player in the eyes of Utah Jazz fans. He’s also starting to turn into a folk hero, as he continues to genuinely embrace Salt Lake City. He went out to prove that again today, as he decided to show up at somebody else’s 4th of July barbeque and pool party in the city.

Mitchell apparently found the right spot where he could spend the day at by simply asking his followers on Twitter where’s the place to be to celebrate.

One Michael Binford tried to cajole the Jazz shooting guard into coming over to his place by showing Mitchell a photo of his setup.

Apparently, Mitchell’s spider-sense did not give him any warning of an imminent danger, so he went ahead and drove to Binford’s location just like a regular person. Mitchell is not a regular person, because regular dudes don’t average 20.5 points and win the NBA Slam Dunk title in their first year in the NBA.

Anyway, here’s Mitchell clearly enjoying the random party he crashed.

Mitchell isn’t really new to this “crashing the party” scene. Back in April, he and the Jazz spoiled the Oklahoma City Thunder’s party when they handed Russell Westbrook and company an upset series loss in the first round of the playoffs.

Perhaps more than that, Mitchell showing up at this Jazz fan’s home has probably taken away completely the pain Gordon Hayward inflicted on him exactly a year ago when the former Jazz forward announced he’s leaving Salt Lake City for Boston.
