Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell had another update on the ankle injury he got in the team's matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

The results of the MRI and clinical evaluation indicate that Donovan Mitchell had sustained a significant right lower ankle sprain. This means that he will be re-evaluated in one week, according to Sarah Todd of the Deseret News

The news is disappointing for Donovan Mitchell, but it could have been so much worse; just look at Los Angeles Lakers forward Lebron James' ankle injury.

The Jazz are still hanging on to the best record in the NBA, at 42-14. Fortunately, Utah's next games are light; they get to face the Minnesota Timberwolves twice.

With the playoffs looming, the team might decide to be conservative in handling Donovan Mitchell's injury. Recency bias is real and seeing Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray go down with a season-ending ACL injury will probably affect the front office.

The two-time All-Star is essential to the Jazz and they need him at full strength down the stretch. Donovan Mitchell is their best weapon on offense, as he effortlessly creates his own shot, finishes well at the rim, despite his height, and makes plays for his teammates. He is not an elite defender by any stretch of the imagination, but his 6'10 wingspan helps him disrupt passing lanes.

In 53 games this season, Donovan Mitchell has been averaging 26.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and a steal per contest. With him sidelined for a couple of games, expect more production from the bench unit headed by Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles.
