Utah Jazz fans will have to wait at least another week to see superstar Donovan Mitchell back on the hardwood. The 24-year-old star's sprained ankle was re-evaluated ahead of the team's match versus the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

Mitchell's bothersome ankle has reportedly shown progress but still needs more time for rehabilitation before he is cleared to play, per The Salt Lake Tribune‘s Eric Walden.

The league-leading Jazz has been without their best player for the past three games, where they went 2-1.

Mitchell has been enjoying a phenomenal fourth season in Salt Lake City, norming 26.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.0 steal, while knocking down 43.8 percent of his field goals and 38.6 percent of his triples in 53 games.

Sixth Man of The Year frontrunner Jordan Clarkson has taken over Mitchell's scoring duties during that stretch and has been a godsend for coach Quin Snyder. The Jazz's high-octane offense did not stagnate at all with the Filipino-American guard taking over, as he put up three straight 20+ point games.

For sure, Mitchell's impact is heavily missed by Utah but if there's a team that can overcome being shorthanded, it's definitely them. The Jazz boast one of the deepest rotations in the league today, as they are stacked with talent at all fronts.

Mitchell could also certainly use the additional rest, as the Jazz gear up for the looming postseason. They do have a relatively light schedule in their next three games, which features back-to-back games against the lowly Timberwolves and a road game against the Sacramento Kings.

The Jazz, however, might need Mitchell back next Saturday when they take on fellow Western Conference powerhouse Phoenix Suns.
