The Utah Jazz have been eliminated from the first round of the playoffs for two years running now. Jazz star Donovan Mitchell has been at the forefront for both of them, and at this point, the 24-year-old is getting tired of it.

Mitchell recently shared his frustration about his team's inability to progress in the playoffs, including last season's embarrassing elimination at the hands of the Denver Nuggets after Utah had mounted a seemingly insurmountable series lead:

“We need to hold ourselves to a high standard,” Mitchell said on Wednesday via Zoom, via Sarah Todd of DeseretNews. “You know, we blew a 3-1 lead. We lost in the first round, and there’s no time for that. There’s no time for slow starts.”

The All-Star shooting guard then went on to say what he believes his team must do in order to achieve their objectives:

“You can’t be complacent when we’re up and we have to start focusing more on the details. There’s no day where we can kind of have that lapse. … There’s no easing our way into this. We need to come out ready to go because losing in the first round ain’t it no more.”

This is a big statement from Mitchell here, who virtually guaranteed that the Jazz are no longer going to settle for an early exit in the playoffs. Clearly, a championship is the ultimate objective of Mitchell and Co., and it appears that they intend to do everything in their power to ensure that this dream becomes a reality.
