Like many other athletes and celebrities, Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell has made a pick for Monday night's NCAA Championship Game between the No. 3 seeded Michigan Wolverines and No. 1 seeded Villanova Wildcats. Shortly after noon today, Mitchell, a former standout with the University of Lousiville Cardinals, sent out a tweet in support of head coach Jay Wright and his Nova Wildcats.

Mitchell's choice of Villanova is what most experts would refer to as “going chalk,” as the Wildcats are currently favored. In fact, Nova has been on a tear throughout the entire tournament, defeating their first five opponents by an average score of 18 points.

Via CBS Sports:

“Nobody has cracked 80 points against the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament 2018 and all five Villanova opponents have scored under their season average.”

Michigan, on the other hand, was nearly upset in the round of 32 by Houston before pulling out a one-point victory. In their second round matchup, the Wolverines trailed Loyola-Chicago by 10 points but managed to pull away for a 69-57 win.

Mitchell, 21, continues to impress in his debut NBA season. In his 74 appearances with the Jazz during their 2017-18 campaign, the crafty shooting guard has racked up averages of 20.3 points on 43.7 percent shooting from the field (33.7 percent from beyond the arc), 3.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 33.5 minutes per game.

Monday night's NCAA National Championship Game is scheduled tip tip at 9:20 p.m. EST inside San Antonio's famous Alamodome. TBS and March Madness Live will have broadcast coverage.
