Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell won the 2018 Slam Dunk contest last year, but did not defend his title this season to focus on the team's playoff push. The sophomore forward has undoubtedly become the heart and soul of the franchise, and will look to continue to work in order to make himself and the team better.

However, Mitchell told HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy that he will participate in the dunk contest someday, although he did not specifically say when.

“Yes. For sure. I don’t know if it’s going to be next year, I don’t know if it’s going to be the year after that, but I am going to do it again.”

Mitchell became only the second Jazz player to win the slam dunk contest. Jeremy Evans, who won it in 2012, was the first.

The dunk contest has been underwhelming over the past couple of years, and not having enough star power made it less exciting for the fans. However, Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine, who had a classic battle during the 2016 event, had already thought about the possibility of going at it again next year, and if Mitchell decided to participate, it will be something to look forward to.

But as previously mentioned, Mitchell is all about business right now. The Jazz were eliminated in the second round of last year's playoffs, and he doesn't want a repeat of history.

All-Star festivities aren't in Mitchell's mind right now.

Winning a title is.
