Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell says playing for Team USA will be “a great experience.”

Mitchell is in Las Vegas right now for Team USA training camp. Team USA will bring 12 players to the FIBA tournament. The training camp from Monday to Friday in Las Vegas will be used to select the 12-man roster for this year’s World Cup in China.

Mitchell, the Jazz's best player and one of the top young scorers in the league, says being around coach Gregg Popovich and all the other great NBA players is going to be a good learning experience for him.

“I think it’ll be a great experience. This will be my first time playing for USA and I take pride in that, but obviously we want to play to win,” Mitchell said, via Eric Woodyard of the Deseret News. “It’s also a learning experience, but to come out there and compete. Obviously, with everybody dropping out, I wasn’t too concerned with that, but I just want to go out there and compete and beat Joe (Ingles) and Rudy (Gobert) for sure.”

Donovan Mitchell averaged 23.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season for the Jazz, who had a great offseason.

Utah acquired point guard Mike Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies and signed signed small forward Bojan Bogdanovic, power forward Ed Davis, swingman Jeff Green and guard Emmanuel Mudiay in free agency.

The Jazz are going to go as far as Mitchell can take them next season. This USA experience will only be a positive for Mitchell and his overall game.
