Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell has had it with the detractors and naysayers framing teammate Rudy Gobert as unworthy of All-Star mention.

Gobert was visibly upset and in tears last season when he found out he didn't make the cut, now largely painted as a defensive force as a two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner. Yet Gobert showed a lot more than his defensive prowess in this 2020 NBA All-Star Game, even garnering MVP consideration at one point in the game.

“I think that they should shut up,” said Mitchell of the naysayers, according to Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune. “You look at his stat line, what did he have — 21 and (11)? … People love to talk about, ‘Oh, he’s not this, he’s not this’ — they’ve been doing that since I got here. One day they’ll learn.”

“He hears all that negative and all that stuff, and he enjoys it and embraces it. He wears it like a cape. And then he goes out there and hoops.”

Gobert was fantastic on Sunday, altering shots on defense and rebounding relentlessly while putting his few chances at the hoop away in strong fashion.

The Stifle Tower led Team Giannis' bench with 21 points, was 10-of-11 from the floor, most of them coming from thunderous dunks, and pulled down 11 boards (five offensive) in 19 minutes of play.

Gobert made a case to be considered among the league's elite talents, as well as one that can be entertaining come mid-February, as he showcased on Sunday night in Chicago.
