The NBA has become a league where teams with multiple superstars usually end up winning the title. That being said, the ability of a franchise to recruit a marquee free agent has gone beyond the scope of the front office. In order to make a big splash in free agency, players must also do their best to convince others to join them and form their own version of a superteam.

And sophomore forward Donovan Mitchell believes he has the qualities needed to make players go to Utah and play for the Jazz.

In an interview with HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy, the former slam dunk champion believes that his attitude, as well as his connections in the league, will play a major role if the team wants to recruit free agents.

“For sure, I definitely think I can. It’s not just a single person [who I can recruit], it’s the fact that I know a lot of guys throughout the league. I think that will definitely help [our free-agency pitch]. I think we’re in a position where we can bring guys in. I think guys want to play with us. We have a lot of chemistry with this team, and it’s easy for everyone to see that. We’re not a typical NBA team when it comes to our chemistry. I think that’s something that will stand out to players. They’ll see it. You can see it from the outside; everybody sees it. I think people will want to play on a team like this because of the freedom and the joy and the fun we’re having.”

The league seems to have moved on from the idea that only big market teams can sign top free agents. After all, the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks have failed to do such over the last few years. Nowadays, players would rather go to teams that has built a solid reputation for having a great culture, and the Jazz is a team that possesses such quality. Add the fact that they have a rising star like Mitchell, and it might not be that difficult to convince players to head over to Salt Lake City.
