Several players have decided to decline their invites to join Team USA at this year's summer camp ahead of the FIBA World Cup, but Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell is honoring his commitment to participate:

Mitchell, now 22 years of age and entering his third year of NBA service, enjoyed a fine 2018-19 campaign. In his 77 appearances with the Jazz during the regular season, the former University of Louisville standout racked up averages of 23.8 points on 43.2 percent shooting from the field (36.2 percent from beyond the arc), 4.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 33.7 minutes per outing.

Several players have already elected to decline their invites, including Anthony Davis, James Harden, Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Bradley Beal, among others. That leaves Mitchell in prime position to become one of the leading scorers on the Team USA roster.

Mitchell’s Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles are planning on playing in the World Cup for France and Australia, according to a report from the Deseret News.

Mitchell and the Jazz finished the 2018-19 regular season with a respectable 50-32 overall record, which earned the team a No. 5 seed in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, though, Utah was defeated by the Houston Rockets in the first round, 4-1.
