The Utah Jazz got off to a very rough start to the 2018-19 season and Donovan Mitchell admits the losing affected his confidence.

Mitchell, who finished as the runner-up for the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year award, says he privately wondered if he was a “one-hit wonder” when the Jazz were losing at the beginning of the season.

“I think what made it worse was when we started losing as a team, we were losing games badly,” Mitchell told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “You know, we lost to Dallas I think, by 50 points. There was times where you were like, you know, maybe like a one-hit wonder. Maybe just because no one knew who I was and I came and just shocked the NBA.”

Fortunately for the Jazz, Mitchell rounded into form and helped Utah finish with the fifth-best record in the rugged Western Conference.

After averaging 20.5 points per game during his rookie season, Mitchell put up 23.8 in 2018-19. The high-flyer shot 43.2 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Mitchell scored at least 30 points 17 times this season and notched 46 points twice, so it's safe to say Mitchell isn't a one-hit wonder. The Jazz are very lucky to have him in Utah.
