The Dwyane Wade retirement rodeo has been in full swing, and while Utah Jazz forward Jae Crowder was blessed with the former's autographed, game-worn jersey, it was young star Donovan Mitchell who was showered with praise after a rousing 111-84 win over the Miami Heat.

Wade noted he has followed Mitchell's career from the time he was at the University of Louisville, a following that has remained intact through the first and now second year of his career.

“I was actually a fan of his game at Louisville — I watched him play his career there,” said Wade of Mitchell, according to Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune. “He’s someone I love to watch when I’m in the hotel room and I’m thinking about who to watch on TV. When Donovan’s playing, I like to tune in; I watch him play a little bit — he’s exciting.

“He’s a force, he’s just a force. He can shoot off the pick-and-roll, he can shoot the three, but also his driving ability. You gotta know where he’s at at all times; he’s exciting — one play can excite this crowd.”

Mitchell's slicing of the defense boasts some resemblance to a younger Wade, who was at one point the best slasher in the game, always staying true to the nature of his game.

The second-year shooting guard is a willing and able 3-point shooter, only giving Wade more reasons to tune in and watch him put on a show.

Donovan Mitchell put up a game-high 21 points on Wednesday night, powering his team to a strong win after dropping games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
