New Utah Jazz guard Emmanuel Mudiay told the media on Tuesday that head coach Quin Snyder “just wants ball players” and that he expects to find minutes at the 1, 2, and 3 positions on the floor, per Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune.

Mudiay, 23, is not limiting himself as a floor general. In fact, the big-bodied guard isn't concerned with the exact position he's going to play in the fall for Snyder and the Jazz.

Utah signed the fourth-year point guard during the free agency period to a one-year deal. Mudiay last played with the New York Knicks after being traded away from the Denver Nuggets in February of 2018.

The Congolese-born guard, at 6-foot-5, was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 draft by Denver after forgoing a one-and-done collegiate season to play overseas professionally in China.

With the emergence of Kentucky point guard Jamal Murray, the Nuggets sent Mudiay to the Knicks in a three-team trade with the Dallas Mavericks. Mudiay was a pet project of Knicks head coach David Fizdale, who opted to lean into the playmaker's development and take him under his wing. However, Mudiay's star in New York diminished with the arrival of 2017 lottery pick Dennis Smith Jr., who started for the team upon his mid-season acquisition.

Mudiay had an up-and-down full season with the Knicks in 2018-19. Despite securing a contract with an expected playoff-contending team in the Jazz over the summer, Mudiay still has to work on his consistency and jump shot.
