Everybody knows Grayson Allen from his days at Duke and he's still one of the most hated players around despite the fact that he doesn't play for the Blue Devils anymore. Georges Niang knows why Allen is still booed.

“Everybody hates a winner,” Georges Niang said to Shlomo Sprung of Forbes. “The kid’s a winner his whole life. Everybody hates a guy that’s successful, and they try to knock him down with the incidents from college.”

Grayson Allen had his fair share of on-court incidents while at Duke. He became well-known for his tripping antics and he developed a dirty reputation for some of the things he did on the court. Furthermore, everyone already hates Duke so Allen was the perfect guy to fill the role of the Duke player who everyone hates.

Allen's reputation has proceeded himself. Despite the fact that he's only playing a handful of minutes this year, Allen still hears boos when he steps on the court. Georges Niang has obviously noticed.

“I think anyone who is also a fan of college basketball as well as the NBA, you have an opinion on Duke,” Grasyon Allen said. “And so it’s either going to be a cheer or a boo.”

That's the truth. Not many fans play it down the middle with Duke so wherever Grayson Allen goes, people are going to have strong opinions about him. He hears the boos, but he hears the cheers as well. Perhaps as his career continues, more of the boos will turn into cheers. At least Georges Niang has his back.
