Utah Jazz general manager Justin Zanik is in awe of Mike Conley's leadership and his capacity to uplift the team.

Speaking with Jasen Lee of the Deseret News, Zanik shared tidbits of their scouting report on the veteran point guard. Apart from his good qualities as a person, what they liked about Conley are his defense and leadership abilities. All of his good traits will likely spill on over to the rest of the Jazz squad. And this bodes well for them moving forward.

“We can put on the film and see he’s a very good player from a good defensive program. We also know on intel work how good of a person he is. Since truly getting to know him and him being a part of our program, it’s unbelievable. His leadership, his ability to mentor and play at a very, very high level and also uplift the rest of the group with his experience and perspective I think will be integral for us. He can help all over. And I’m not just talking about Donovan or the other point guards. It’s literally everyone. And he’s already played with Ed Davis and Jeff Green, and I give Mike a lot of credit for those two wanting to come play with him again.”

Conley has long been considered as one of the underrated guards in the league. With the Jazz, he has a chance to showcase more of his abilities especially since he'll form a deadly backcourt duo with Donovan Mitchell. The Jazz, too, are expected to become a tighter defensive unit given his presence. All of these elements combined, the Jazz should be one of the teams to look out for in the years to come.
