Veteran guard Mike Conley, now of the Utah Jazz, is impressed by the maturity of star guard Donovan Mitchell.

In the press conference which formally introduced new Jazz players, Mike Conley shared his thoughts on the 22-year-old Donovan Mitchell.

Per Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune:

“I’m really just impressed with how mature he is. For a guy in his situation — he’s the face of the franchise, he has everything at his feet, but he’s willing to get better, he’s willing to learn.… I think he’s special — he already is. He’s gonna be big.”

Conley is just one among many players who have commended Mitchell's maturity. To recall, in his rookie season, he helped the Jazz qualify for the playoffs, something that no one saw coming. In effect, he quickly became the franchise's star player.

Conley was acquired from Memphis in exchange for Grayson Allen, Jae Crowder, and Kyle Korver. The Jazz are just Conley's second team in his 13-year career. He spent his first 12 years with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he was the team's leader alongside Marc Gasol.

Along with his significant experience, Conley will also be bringing his leadership, as well as his innate offensive skills and his defensive mindset. The Jazz haven't revealed their plans for Conley, chiefly whether he'll be the team's point guard. That decision, if made, would force Mitchell to move up to shooting guard.

It has been revealed that the Jazz were eyeing Conley since the February trade deadline. It's safe to say that they have big plans.

Conley is owed $32.5 million in 2019-20 and $34.5 million in 2020-21 before his contract expires in 2021.
