The Utah Jazz will be without Mike Conley for the beginning of their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets. Conley left the NBA bubble at Disney World on Sunday morning to go to Columbus, Ohio in order to be with his wife for the birth of their son, the Jazz announced.

ESPN's Eric Woodyard says Conley will return at some point in the playoffs, but the veteran guard is likely going to miss at least the first two games and perhaps longer. Game 1 is on Monday.

While Conley is doing the right thing here, it's another tough blow for Utah's chances. The Jazz are already without Bojan Bogdanovic for the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury. The forward underwent surgery in May, so the team won't have both of its major offseason additions to start the postseason.

Conley really struggled to start his first season in Utah, but he was showing signs of life before the season was suspended in March. The 32-year-old then played pretty well in the seeding games, hitting the 20-point mark in four of the five games he played big minutes.

With Conley out of the lineup for the time being, Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles will have to take on even more responsibility when it comes to handling the ball and scoring. Emmanuel Mudiay may also see a larger role, though he has been dealing with a knee injury. Nigel Williams-Goss, Justin Wright-Foreman, Rayjon Tucker and Miye Oni are all deep bench options in the backcourt for Utah.

The Jazz finished the regular season with a 44-28 record, which gave them the No. 6 seed. The Nuggets went 46-27 to finish with the No. 3 seed.
