The NBA is coming down hard on Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert for his postgame comments following the team's Monday night loss to the Miami Heat. Gobert called out the officials for their lack of consistency and didn't his mince words. As a result, it's no surprise that he'll need to cut a check for the league offices.

The fine is a sizable amount of money, but Gobert and the Jazz have bigger problems on their hands. They currently sit in 14th place in the Western Conference after coming into the season as a trendy pick to make a run in the playoffs.

Everyone who picked the Jazz to finish near the top of the West has to be scratching their heads. Of course, it's early and the Jazz can turn things around, but they've shown little indication that a turnaround is imminent. Every time they take a step forward, they take another step back.

Gobert is having an excellent season offensively, but his defense has taken a slight step back. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Gobert's defensive rating is up to 103. Not a bad number by any stretch, but it would be the first time since his rookie season that he finishes with a defensive rating over 100, per Basketball-Reference.

There's still ample time for Rudy Gobert and the Jazz to turn things around. That being said, the early-season struggles are concerning and there's no room for error in the loaded West.
