Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert defended himself on social media on Friday afternoon, sharing a positive clip of the two-time Defensive Player of the Year playing defense.

The 27-year-old Gobert, three-time All-Defensive First Team honoree, retweeted a video of himself playing defense on sophomore rising star point guard Trae Young. The original tweet was captioned with “Since twitter goes wild when Gobert gets ‘exposed' on the perimeter, make sure you remember the times when he does this (which is way more often).”

Sharing the post, Gobert captioned “They don't wanna remember that,” referencing critics pointing out an ability to be “exposed” when not defending the paint. “Doesn't fit their narrative,” the 7-foot-1 big man out of France concluded.

This has been the latest “narrative” dogging Gobert's career, that him, along with other talented centers, lose a chance to flex their defensive muscles on switching in the pick-and-roll.

Gobert is justified to push back at critics, however, due to the proclivity to share negative clips on the back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year messing up on that end. Gobert anchors the Jazz's defense and has developed into an all-around crucial part of the team coached by Quin Snyder.

Gobert is tied for seventh in the NBA in blocks per game (he has the tenth most blocks in the league this season) and is third in rebounds per game with 13.9. The intimidating force in the paint has one of the best defensive efficiencies and defensive win shares in the NBA this season, too, further highlighting how important he is to Utah.

However, Gobert looks like he's unafraid to block out haters, too.
