It's everywhere in the news, but it's important to reiterate that Rudy Gobert is the first NBA player to be infected with COVID-19. The Utah Jazz center's condition immediately affected the season, but the question now lies on how the Frenchman contracted the disease.

It turns out that he possibly got it after hanging out with people who just traveled from France a couple of days ago. The Athletic, however, emphasized that there is no “clear determination” yet how he was infected by the virus.

It's understandable that Gobert would be hanging out with people that just came from his home country. However, it's very plausible that he got infected due to those same people. After all, France is at the forefront of European countries battling the disease at the moment.

According to nCoV2019.live, France has the fifth-highest number of COVID-19 patients at 2,281.  a total of 48 patients have died on their home soil while 12 made a full recovery.

There is a high chance that the jazz star will recover from the illness. The disease's mortality rate among young people is notably low. As long as he keeps himself clean and healthy, there's no reason for Rudy Gobert not to have a clean bill of health as soon as possible.

However, it's advisable that teams and players who played the Jazz over the past couple of days also take a diagnostic exam and do a self-quarantine. Preventing the disease from spreading any further should be at the top of their list.
