While the Utah Jazz prepare for Game 3 against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, there will be some heavy hearts after the passing of Jazz legend Mark Eaton. Rudy Gobert actually built quite the relationship with him and paid his respects to Eaton on social media just after hearing about his death at the age of 64.

Some kind words from Gobert. Mark Eaton was a defensive mainstay during his time with the Jazz, making two all-defensive teams and an All-Star appearance. He was found unconscious late Friday evening with his bike and was quickly transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. The cause of death is unknown at this point.

Eaton had a very unique journey to the NBA as well. He was spotted by a Junior College assistant when he was working as a mechanic due to his enormous size. Eaton eventually gave basketball a shot and ultimately transferred to UCLA where he was picked up in the 1982 NBA Draft.

Being a 7 foot 4 big man, he served as a friend and mentor to Gobert. Eaton was a regular attendee at Jazz games and was even at the first two contests of this Grizzlies series in Salt Lake City.  It's always an awful feeling to lose someone close to you and I'm sure Gobert will be playing for Mark Eaton on Friday night.
