Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell might not be safe from the trade block, according to Jazz general manager, Justin Zanik.

Mitchell has been the subject of trade speculation since it was rumored that he and former Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert suffered a rift in their relationship.

Between their first-round exit during the 2022 NBA Playoffs, former head coach Quin Snyder stepping down, and Gobert's trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves, it is fair to assume that there could soon be a fire sale in Utah.

While Zanik did proclaim that the Jazz have no intention of trading Mitchell, it is interesting to note that he avoided calling Mitchell “untouchable.”

Previously, it was reported that Jazz CEO of basketball operations, Danny Ainge, would be open to trading Mitchell if the right deal became available. Zanik's comments back up that report.

Mitchell has yet to request a trade from Utah. He has stated his desire to “stand pat” and not try to “force any action right now” with the team undergoing a rebuilding phase.

Mitchell's feelings could change in the future if he is not content with the direction the franchise is headed.

It is no secret that Mitchell might one day spurn the mountains of Utah for the big lights of New York or the sandy beaches of Miami.

A move to a bigger market could do wonders for his marketability. It would also be easier to attract other talented players to play alongside.

It is possible that Mitchell has already played his last game for the Jazz. Only time will tell if he will remain in Utah for the long haul.
