Donovan Mitchell and the league-leading Utah Jazz were threatened by the underdog Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. However, they managed to overcome their resilient opponents as they pulled away in the second half of the game to tighten their grip on the top spot of the Western Conference with a 25-6 record.

After the game, Mitchell claimed that he was proud of how his team performed and that they should continue to outperform their opponents amid adversity in order to achieve their goal by the end of the season.

“The way we played throughout the course of the game, that’s the team we want to be. The No. 1 team in the league wins a game like that,” said Mitchell via Salt Lake Tribune. “I think that’s really where our head is at — that’s where we have to continue to be.”

On Monday night, the Jazz was caught in a toe-to-toe encounter with the Hornets until they came out with a strong performance in the fourth quarter of the game. Utah also fired a total of 28 three-pointers, including 19 from their bench mob which broke a league record.

Their fiery shooting from beyond the arc certainly helped them in their bounce-back efforts as they emerged victorious on a 132-110 win. Mitchell tallied 23 points, eight assists, and four rebounds to top the team in scoring.

Head coach Quin Snyder and his squad can expect more close games as the season progresses with many teams looking to hit the huge targets on their back. The resiliency that they showed against the Hornets will certainly serve as valuable experiences that will help them later on in the playoffs.
