As part of cutbacks within approximately 80 companies within the Larry H. Miller Group, there are layoffs underway with the Utah Jazz, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Cutbacks are expected to be limited to non-basketball staff and some Jazz employees are taking compensation reductions:

The NBA was forced to suspend the 2019-20 season after Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.

Jazz star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell tested positive as well. Mitchell and Gobert were the only two players on the Jazz to contract the virus.

The NBA is going to lose a ton of money because of the hiatus. Unfortunately, that means teams like the Jazz are going to have to layoff some workers. It's really a sad situation all around.

The Jazz were in fourth place in the Western Conference standings before play was called. Utah had a record of 41-23.

Gobert made his first All-Star team this season after getting snubbed in 2018-19. He was averaging 15.1 points and 13.7 rebounds for Utah in 62 games prior to the NBA suspending the season.

Mitchell, meanwhile, was putting up 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Utah is hoping its two All-Stars can co-exist again. There have been reports that stated Mitchell was upset with Gobert for how he acted. Mitchell even admitted on Good Morning America it took him a while to cool off on his Jazz teammate.

It's unknown if Mitchell and Gobert have talked since then.
