The Utah Jazz traded Derrick Favors last summer, but they could join forces once again whenever the 2020 offseason starts.

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Favors and the Jazz have mutual interest in a reunion.

“I will say that there’s some interest there, I would say, both ways,” Jones said on Game Notes: A Show About The Utah Jazz. “I know that the Pelicans want (Derrick Favors) back. I don’t know that they want him for a four-year deal, but certainly like a two year-deal while Jackson Hayes matures.”

The Jazz traded Favors to the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer of 2019. The big man appeared in 576 games with the Utah franchise and compiled averages of 12.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, but most importantly, he was loved by his teammates and everyone in the organization.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended in March, Favors was averaging 9.2 points, 9.9 boards and 1.7 assists for the Pelicans. He was shooting 62.0 percent from the field and 58.1 percent from the free-throw line. The 28-year-old was scheduled to make $16 million this season prior to games getting suspended.

The Jazz and Pelicans are among the 22 teams that will be partaking in the resumption of the 2019-20 season at Walt Disney World. This year has been tough for Favors, who tragically lost his mom at the age of 55. This extended hiatus must have given the Georgia native time to be with his family and that's always a good thing.

The Jazz racked up 41 wins before Rudy Gobert's positive COVID-19 test forced commissioner Adam Silver to suspend the season. Utah All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell contracted the virus as well.
