Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the league to watch on a nightly basis.

Mitchell provided one of those exhilarating plays on Saturday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers throwing down a vicious two-hand alley-oop dunk.

Beyond his explosive scoring ability, Donovan Mitchell has proven to be quite an athletically gifted player with numerous tantalizing dunks in his first campaign. This was just another prime example of the promising talent that the 21-year-old possesses that has many around the league voicing praise toward him.

Although other rookies such as Ben Simmons, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Lauri Markkanen have received plenty of attention, Mitchell has been putting up quite a stellar first season. He currently leads all rookies in scoring at 17.9 points per game, 14 games with 20 or more points, and with 73 made 3-pointers entering Saturday night.

What has been most impressive is that Donovan Mitchell has continued to see his play improve as the season has worn on averaging 22.6 points on 50 percent shooting in 12 games played in the month of December. This includes becoming the first rookie since Blake Griffin in 2011 to record 40 points in a single game.

With still more than half of the season left to play, there could many more impressive performances and plays ahead of Mitchell that could eventually make him a top candidate to win the Rookie of the Year award this season — if he still isn't right now.
