Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell is going to the All-Star game for the first time.

Mitchell was named a All-Star reserve on Thursday. To make matters even more special, Mitchell received a letter from his mom:

Mitchell has appeared in 46 games for the Jazz this season. The high-flyer is averaging 25.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 86.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Jazz are 32-15 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

The Jazz have lost to the Houston Rockets in back-to-back postseasons. Mitchell, who has career averages of 22.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists, is the best player in Utah and eager to lead the team to a championship run.

For the Jazz to go on a deep playoff run, they will need point guard Mike Conley to play like he did last season with the Memphis Grizzlies. Conley averaged 21.1 points per game for the Grizzlies during the 2018-19 campaign. The lefty is only putting up 12.6 points this season and shooting 37.7 percent overall.
