Unlike Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum, just to name a few, Donovan Mitchell was not talked about as much the other highly touted rookies during the offseason. However, he has been making noise with the Utah Jazz, as he's had some solid performances so far.

The 21-year-old Louisville product also made sure he introduced himself to the world during their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, as he pulled off a vicious putback slam. It left the home crowd inside the Vivint Smart Home Arena in awe of his mad hops, and received a rousing ovation for the emphatic dunk he made.

Mitchell played the best game of his young professional career, and finished with 22 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals in 27 minutes of action. More importantly, the Jazz were able to come out with the win on the night, and are now back to .500 with a 3-3 win-loss record.

Selected 13th overall in last June's draft, Mitchell was not expected to play a big role for the Jazz in his rookie season, but with his showing on Saturday night, he could earn more playing time moving forward. If he shows consistency with his production off the bench, it will give head coach Quin Snyder more reason to trust him, and have him gain more experience on the floor, which could set his future up for success.
