It’s easy to dismiss Grayson Allen as just another unathletic white product of the Duke Blue Devils program. If that’s how you still feel after seeing the show Allen put up prior to Wednesday’s Summer League game between the Utah Jazz and the Atlanta Hawks, we can’t do anything more to help you.

But for those who have yet to see the pair of pogo sticks Allen brought to Salt Lake City tonight, let the videos below do the convincing for you in case you think we’re tripping when we say Allen has some serious hops.

And the crowd inside the Vivint Smart Home Arena were loving what they’re seeing from Utah’s rookie.

Allen was selected 21st overall in last month’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn by the Jazz, who are expecting the former Blue Devil to add another source of ample scoring. In four years in Durham, Allen averaged 14.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 142 games (97 starts).

He is a threat to score from anywhere in the perimeter and also moves well off the ball. Should he blossom into at least a serviceable player in his rookie year in the NBA, he and Donovan Mitchell could be among the most potent young backcourt tandems in the league.

Allen’s college stint was not as smooth as Shane Battier’s, however, thanks to his habit of tripping up opponents, which led to a suspension handed to him by Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski himself.
