Now with Phil Jackson not part of the New York Knicks anymore, it signals the start of a new era within the organization, affecting the changes to be made on their roster.

That said, head coach Jeff Hornacek recently said that he feels that Kristaps Porzingis might not be included in trade rumors anymore. He also added that he prefers to still have Porzingis on the team.

The 7-foot-3 Latvian international was surprisingly made available for trades by Jackson, weeks before his departure from the Knicks. Thought of as their future franchise player, many of their fans were left in shock and wondered why the team wanted to part ways with Porzingis, especially with the solid first two seasons he’s had in the NBA.

Hornacek then admitted, via  Newsday's Al Iannazone, that he is uncertain of what their front office is planning, but he knows they have young pieces to work around with and sees a bright future for his team.

“I'm not sure the direct plan, whether we'll roll with some of these young guys. Frank (Ntilikina is) 18, KP's only 22, Willy (Hernangomez is) 23. That's a pretty big young nucleus to build with. We just have to see how the roster shakes out.”

The good news for the Knicks is that it’s still early days in the summer and they have a lot of time to figure things out. The next few weeks will definitely be crucial for them as they continue their search for a new team president, as well as build the best possible lineup for next season, which Hornacek made clear that he still wants Porzingis to be part of.
