After seeing Jimmy Butler get traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, former Indiana Pacers point guard Jeff Teague already knew where he wanted to play next.

Facing a lot of uncertainty on his future, the 29-year-old Wake Forest product immediately talked to his agent, R.J. Hensley, and told him that if he’ll be moved to another team, he prefers to be part of the Timberwolves. Teague, via Jace Frederick of the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, cited the level of talent the team has, especially with the addition of Butler, as the main motivation for him wanting to be in Minnesota.

“I said, ‘I want to go to Minnesota’”

“Talented team, they’re on the rise. With so many talented players, there’s the potential to be something great, and I want to be part of something great.”

“I started looking at them like, `Man, that’s an explosive team. That’s a really good team,’I was like, ‘It’s a no brainer for me, it was a perfect fit for me.”

As it turned out, Teague indeed got his wish and is now part of a new-look Timberwolves squad that has further improved their roster recently. The addition of veterans Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford will give them a balance of youth and experience, which will allow them to have a better chance of competing for a playoff spot`.

Teague is a proven floor general who has played with some of the best players in the league today while having postseason experience, and his presence could point the team in the direction of becoming a dark horse in the tough Western Conference.
