With the NBA Finals starting in a few days, everyone have been weighing in on who they think will win it all this year. The Golden State Warriors are the heavy favorites even before season started, and have now strengthened their case by having a 12-o record in the playoffs.

ESPN color commentator Jeff Van Gundy has recently joined the conversation, via Ann Killion of the San Francisco Chronicle, and gave his prediction on who he believes will win the title. He chose the Dubs, and even went as far as saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers may not even pose a serious threat to them.

“I don’t think the Warriors will be challenged. I think they’ll be in the same situation as last year, up 3-1 coming home. In my time in the NBA, this is the biggest talent differential between the best team and the second best team. No disrespect to Cleveland, but I just think the Warriors are at a different level.”

Following their epic collapse in last year’s finals where they gave up a 3-1 lead, the Warriors have added more firepower to their roster with the addition of former MVP and four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant. He provides the team with another scoring weapon and creates tons of matchup problems for opposing teams. The 28-year-old Texas product has also proven throughout the season that he can co-exist with the Dubs’ other stars without sacrificing too much out of his normal game.

The odds may be stacked against them this year, but with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love still leading their charge, the Cavs still hold a good shot at repeating as champions and proving their doubters wrong, including Van Gundy, in the process. His comments may also serve as extra motivation for Cleveland to play even better in the finals and come out as the winners after everything has been said and done.
