Brooklyn Nets‘ guard Jeremy Lin is giving back to his alma mater.

Harvard University announced on Wednesday that the 28-year-old will make a $1 million donation for the renovation of their basketball arena, Lavietes Pavillion, and financial aid for undergraduates.

Lin talked about what his donation means to him and how the school has prepared him to reach the success he currently has, per Mike Bonesteel of the Washington Post:

“Without question, my time at Harvard prepared me well for success both on and off the court. I’m honored to put that same world-class education in reach for deserving students and to support improvements to the facilities where I spent countless hours practicing and competing.”

The 6-foot-3 point guard graduated from the Ivy League school and played there for four years. He owns college basketball averages 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 155 games and became a two-time All-Ivy League First-Team member.

With the donation he made, the renovation of the arena will push through without foreseen delays and is scheduled to be finished just in time for the start of the 2017-2018 basketball season.

It is only fitting that the announcement the school made was done on the day Lin's current team was in town to face the Boston Celtics.
