The quarterback drama in Dallas has fizzled, thanks to yet another brilliant performance by Dak Prescott. The Cowboys have won their last eight games, and while Tony Romo is finally healthy, it's unlikely he'll play unless Dak gets injured.

Under the tutelage of Romo, Prescott has excelled as a rookie. He certainly benefits from star running back Ezekiel Elliott and the best offensive line in the league, but he's made all the throws and his decision-making is beyond his years.

Jerry Jones, who previously wavered back and forth between Romo and Prescott, is starting to come to terms with Dak's firm grasp on the starting role. Jones announced on Sunday that Romo will serve as Prescott's backup this coming weekend.

Romo, future OC

With Romo's playing days in Dallas possibly nearing their end, Jones began talking about Tony's future… in coaching.

From NFL.com's Conor Orr:

“Make no mistake, he's really wonderful about this. Tony is gonna have serious options,” Jones said. “And of course he is young relatively speaking. Tony has the ability to be a great — I'm not talking about a good one — a great offensive coordinator. He has an eye and has an understanding about offensive football that's exceptional. He could be as a matter of fact two years ago, I sat down with him and said I really want you in the process as we really get into picking a quarterback for the future because I don't want you to leave your career without having the benefit of you helping us get this quarterback and getting him ready to go and of course his eyes just lit up and he said I'm your man.”
