The daughter of Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula, Jessica, is currently powering her way through the ongoing Australian Open in the women's singles division. She punched her ticket to the quarterfinals after a gutsy win over fifth-seeded opponent Elina Svitolina, via ESPN.

Pegula has been making a name for herself as a professional tennis player since 2011. Since then, she has already won a bevy of titles in the women's doubles division, including the ITF Circuit and the WTA 125K Series Finals back in 2011 and 2018, respectively.

The 26-year-old tennis player is continuing her budding career with this impressive start to the Australian Open. In the opening proceedings, she previously dealt an upset to a former Australian Open Champion in Victoria Azarenka, who was seeded at No. 12. Pegula engaged in a tight encounter but managed to squeak past by way of a 7-5, 6-4 win.

In the second round, she dominated against Australia's Samantha Stosur and almost had a double-bagel over the former U.S. Open champion with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. She eventually carried over the momentum in her third outing as she cruised to a victory over her French counterpart in Kristina Mladenovic, 6-2. 6-1.

Pegula's slate against Svitolina on Sunday proved to be her toughest contest in the Australian Open to date. The match stretched to three sets, but Pegula still managed to gain the upper hand against her opponent to pull through for the victory, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Jessica Pegula is set to face 22nd-seeded Jennifer Brady in the upcoming quarterfinal tilt of the tournament.
