The New England Patriots have flat-out dominated the New York Jets in the first half of their Week 7 primetime matchup. Unfortunately, it appears the game has now taken a turn for the worst.

Center Ryan Kalail is questionable to return after suffering an elbow injury, via the team's official Twitter:

C Ryan Kalil (elbow) is questionable to return.

The prospect of Kalil having to miss any time would undoubtedly deal a devastating blow to an offense that has already struggled mightily to start the 2019 NFL season. Backup center Jonathan Harrison has managed to fill in for the remainder of the first half against the Patriots.

Kalil retired in 2019, following a decorated career as the anchor of the Carolina Panthers' offensive line for more than a decade. He then announced his decision to come out of retirement to sign a one-year deal with New York to help serve as a stabilizing factor for a group that was aiming to turn things around in the 2019 NFL season.

It is safe to say that the Jets offense has fallen vastly short of expectations thus far following a 1-4 start to the year. Fortunately, the return of quarterback Sam Darnold in Week 6 has left hope for a potential resurgence.

However, it is clear that the elite Patriots defense is giving them more than they can handle up to this point after being shut out 24-0 at halftime. Regardless, the Jets are hoping that Kalil's elbow injury will not turn out to be too severe as they are already down two offensive line starters.
