The New York Jets are heading into a pivotal offseason for the franchise and Robby Anderson is among the team's impending free agents. Despite Anderson testing the open market, he knows that New York wants him back next season.

Per Bob Glauber of Newsday:

“I know they’ve communicated that they do want me back,” Anderson said. “So, we’ve just got to see how it plays out.

“I want to be where I feel like the best situation for me to be great is, to be the person I can be outside of football,” Anderson said.

After spending three years in college at Temple, Anderson declared for the 2016 NFL Draft. Throughout the draft process, Anderson was considered to be undersized for a wide receiver. Therefore, he ended up going undrafted and was going to need a team, like the Jets, to take a chance on him.

While most teams overlooked him, New York chose to sign him as a free agent. As an undrafted rookie, Anderson hauled in 42 receptions for 587 yards and two touchdowns in 2016. Since then, he's seen his role in the Jets' offense expand.

In today's NFL, teams are looking for offensive players that can stretch the field vertically. Given that, a player like Anderson is going to be a coveted option when free agency begins in March.

With the wide receiver market growing in recent seasons, Robby Anderson could command a lucrative contract in free agency. Even with that being the case, the Jets have expressed interest in re-signing him. However, it remains to be seen how much New York is willing to shell out to retain the speedy wideout.
