The New York Jets are 0-4. They are not the last winless team in the NFL, but they are the first to that 0-4 mark. Even worse, they did so by blowing a fourth quarter lead to the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

That's a Denver team that was 0-3 heading into the game and was suffering with some serious injury problems.

0-4 is never a fun time. But it does move New York closer to that first overall draft pick in 2021. Of course, that first pick would probably net them Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence is the Clemson quarterback and a prospect that has had everyone drooling for the last two years at the possibility of their team drafting him.

Can the Jets get there? Well that 0-4 record certainly gives them a good shot.

Meanwhile, the other 0-3 teams give them some hope as well. The Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings all have their problems. But they are all veteran teams with nice pieces (and veteran quarterbacks) that are probably just struggling right now.

It's hard to imagine any of those teams finishes the year with the worst record in football.

Meanwhile, the New York Giants are 0-3 but would they really move on from Daniel Jones this early? The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2-1 but Joe Burrow is their guy at quarterback, and the Philadelphia Eagles are 0-2-1 but in that division it's hard to see them keeping such a bad record.

That definitely leaves New York as the first overall pick favorites. Which means they are the favorites for Lawrence.

Why would they do that though, you ask? Sam Darnold is a very intriguing prospect at quarterback.

Yes, he is. But head coach Adam Gase has hurt a lot.

No disrespect to Gase, but we've seen what he has done to the franchise. They have completely stalled out and nothing has looked good lately.

Darnold shows a lot of “flashes of brilliance” That being said, it is year three. Darnold now has 30 career starts. After 30 starts you should not be talking about “flashes of brilliance” it should be all about progress.

Right now, Darnold appears to have regressed with the Jets.

Yes, the Jets have a lot of injuries and a bad support system. But the quarterback play is still troubling.

Even worse they appear to not want to cut ties with Gase because there is a fear that it might hurt Darnold's growth. As just mentioned though, the growth appears to be in reverse for the Jets.

Darnold is regressing and a lot of that could be blamed on the Jets' coach.

With that in mind, bring on Lawrence. If that first overall pick comes there way, the only choice for the Jets is to take the quarterback. That will free them up to move on from both Darnold and Gase.

Maybe that will finally get the Jets back on the right track.
