The New York Jets recently parted with general manager Mike Maccagnan. The move has seemingly raised more concerns regarding the relationship between head coach Adam Gase and running back Le'Veon Bell.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Gase's thoughts on Maccagnan's lucrative signing of Bell this offseason. According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the two have been in contact as of late despite the star back's absence from workouts:

A source said Gase and Bell have been in constant contact since the offseason program began last month despite Bell not being in Florham Park for most of the workouts. The two communicated after the Maccagnan firing both on Wednesday and Thursday, and the conversations have been positive, according to the source.

New York made headlines when the Jets signed Bell to a four-year, $52.5 million deal. Maccagnan's recent departure led to reports about whether Gase had signed off on the deal when it was made. As a result, there is speculation that this is the reason behind his decision to not attend offseason workouts.

Fortunately, both Bell and Gase have done what they can to downplay any notion of friction between them. The three-time Pro Bowler took to social media to dispel all the rumors. Meanwhile, Gase has been adamant about the workouts being voluntary and that Bell will report when he is obligated to do so. It is safe to say that they will continue to hear the noise until the Jets' star finally decides to show up.
