The 2019 NFL trade deadline has come and gone, and while there were a whole lot of rumors, there was not a whole lot of activity.

One of the rumors that came out of nowhere on Tuesday morning was that the New York Jets were apparently shopping running back Le'Veon Bell. Later reports said that the Jets had received calls on him, but were not actively shopping him.

As for head coach Adam Gase's thoughts on the topic? He said that the Bell trade talk was news to him, according to Brian Costello of The New York Post.

Of course, even if the Jets held trade discussions on Bell, Gase is not going to confirm it, as he would not want to create a potentially awkward situation in the locker room.

Let's also remember that there was some chatter that New York was potentially looking to trade Bell not long after signing him to a four-year deal during the offseason.

That being said, it does seem more likely that other teams called the Jets asking about Bell's availability on Tuesday rather than New York actually making calls to see who was interested.

Given that Bell has a $52.5 million contract with $35 million of that being guaranteed, it would have been very difficult for the Jets to move Bell and recoup actual value in return, so these rumors were probably all moot to begin with.

Bell has been a massive disappointment in his first year with the Jets, as he is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry through seven games.
