New York Jets head coach Adam Gase wouldn't publicly say on Monday that he wanted running back Le'Veon Bell back for next season.

When asked by the media about Bell, Gase pointed out he was under contract for three more years, but wouldn't give him a show of support, instead of saying to ask general manager Joe Douglas on Tuesday.

He was asked a follow up on why he won't give Bell a publish show of support and Gase said he has done that all year.

This type of behavior is a bit shocking from a head coach unless he knows the team is going to move on from Bell. If Bell does return next season it looks like there could be some repairing that needs to be done with their relationship. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Bell and Gase had a private meeting after Sunday's victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Bell said after the game it was a disappointing season, but he was excited to get back to work and get ready for another year with the Jets.

“It's been a different season, that's all you can say about it,” Bell said, speaking in clipped sentences.

“I didn't break 1,000 yards. It's disappointing. Obviously, that's a marker that every running back kind of [aspires to] — 1,000 yards. It didn't happen this year. I have to work harder and get better for next year.”

If Bell is back next season the Jets need more production out of him, or it could be another disappointing season in the Big Apple.
