There has been a lot made of a blowup between New York Jets coach Adam Gase and Sam Darnold at the end of Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Gase, the two actually weren't arguing, but actually yelling about another player on the Jets.

“We were both in the same mind frame,” Gase said Friday via the NY Daily News. “Somebody didn’t execute their job and basically I was bitching about that. And he was doing the same thing.”

Darnold had a little different answer and didn't mention another player, but rather said it was just about the lack of execution during a play.

“Where we were at in the game, especially not executing especially on a fourth down… a really key down,” Darnold said. “I was just frustrated about the circumstance. It wasn’t anything more than that. We were just having a conversation about not executing the way we were supposed to. That was really it.”

During the conversation backup quarterback David Fales made a shocked face. but according to Darnold, that's the look he always on his face.

“David kind of always has that weird look on his face,” Darnold said with a laugh. “But we were not in a disagreement at all. It was just me being… just frustrated (given) the circumstance and what was going on in the game at the time.”

Who knows if Darnold and Gase are trying to downplay what happened but if they are telling the truth, that is a big positive. A good relationship between coach and player is most important for a team so hopefully that can continue with Gase and Darnold.
